Why Baby-Boomers Must Lose the Belly Fat NOW!
Research is mounting. Twenty or more pounds of excess belly-fat dramatically increase the risk of serious health reversal for baby-boomers (ages 47-67.)

What is belly-fat? There are actually two kinds of abdominal fat. One type, called subcutaneous fat, is just under the skin (the wiggly stuff); the other type is called visceral fat, and is deeper in the abdomen, surrounding the major organs. Twenty or more pounds of excess visceral fat (referred to here as belly-fat) can be dangerous, and even life-threatening, for baby-boomer men and women. It is associated with a number of health issues including:

  • Early dementia, including Alzheimer’s
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Type-2 (adult-onset) diabetes
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Breast cancer in women
  • Lowered immune-system response
  • Sleep apnea, and
  • Chronic Low-grade Systemic Inflammation

Add to this a family history of any of these problems, and the risk goes even higher.

What is it about this deep visceral fat that causes so much trouble? Evidently, this nasty fat can actually act as a hormone-producing gland or organ itself, impeding normal hormonal processes. One such normal process is the work of the pancreatic hormone insulin. Excess belly-fat can lead to a condition known as insulin-resistance. In this case, insulin is blocked from its important function of transporting glucose sugar from the blood into the tissues (for use as energy.) Blood glucose levels increase abnormally and can eventually lead to Type II diabetes.

There is a vicious cycle that comes with aging. Breaking this cycle means watching what we eat, and getting serious about how we move.

My advice to my brother and sister baby-boomers is, lose that fat NOW! Some of you are “ticking time-bombs” and don’t know it. The good news is - no matter what your condition – there is always hope. It is possible to “de-fuse” the bomb, but you need to act… sooner rather than later.

Good health has always been, to a great extent, a function of what you eat, and how you move. Burning excess belly-fat is specifically linked to, both, exercise and diet.

For health’s-sake…don’t put it off any longer.
